Tell us what your district has in place

Nobody counts this. Minnesota law has required a seizure action plan and trained staff in every public and charter school since 2022, and no state agency tracks which districts actually have them. We built the only measure that exists, and it is a weak one: we checked whether a plan is posted where a family could find it. About 7 in 10 districts post nothing.

Posting is not the same as having. Districts have told us so, and they are right. This page is how you correct the record for your district.

Two questions

Email edanmnorg@gmail.com from a school address and answer these:

1. Does your district have a seizure action plan on file for each student with a diagnosed seizure disorder?
2. Is there at least one trained staff member at each school who can carry it out, including rescue medication if prescribed?

If the answer to both is yes, we mark your district as confirmed on our public map, alongside what the website check found. If the work is in progress, tell us that and we will say so rather than leaving your district looking empty.

So far 18 districts have replied and 13 are confirmed. Every answer is recorded with the date and the role of the person who gave it, never their name.

What we do with it

• Your district's entry on Find Your District is updated
• The count goes into our published totals, which we give to the Department of Health and to legislators
• Nothing else. We do not sell anything, we do not rank districts, and we do not publish the name of the person who replied

We correct mistakes. If our website check got your district wrong, tell us and we will fix the entry and say that we did.

The free Seizure-Safe Schools packet has a plan template, drop-in Policy 516 language, a first-aid poster and an observation log. Free training for staff and nurses is run by the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota and the Epilepsy Foundation, who are the right people for that work:
