Epilepsy by Legislative District

Page updated

How many people in each Minnesota House and Senate district are estimated to have epilepsy, which school districts serve them, and how far they are from care. All 134 House districts and 67 Senate districts are here.

These are estimates

No Minnesota agency counts people with epilepsy by legislative district. The figures apply published rates to census counts. A school district that posts no plan can still have one on file.

What to keep in mind

  • House districts are drawn to hold the same number of people, about 42,600 each, so the epilepsy estimate is close to 420 in every one. The differences between districts are in the schools and the distances.
  • Summed across all districts, the estimates come to about 56,000 Minnesotans. The CDC's own statewide figure for 2015 was 53,700, and the population has grown since.
  • The count of school districts posting a plan leaves out any school district with less than 1 percent of the legislative district's residents. The full file lists all of them.
  • School district shares are shares of all residents. They assume children are spread across a school district the way residents are.
  • The audit covers the 329 regular school districts. Charter schools are not in it.
  • Members shown served in the 2025-26 Legislature. All 201 seats are on the ballot on November 3, 2026, and we will update the names after the election.
